ATCO Electric Scam Alert

ATCO’s corporate security department has been made aware of this ongoing telephone scam affecting customers within our service area.

  1. If customers receive a call from someone claiming to be from ATCO and asking for personal information, they should hang up, refer to the ATCO web site, and call one of the numbers on the web site to speak to an ATCO representative.
  2. Resist the pressure to act immediately. Legitimate businesses will give you time to make a decision. Anyone who pressures you to pay or give them your personal information is a scammer.
  3. If a customer indicates that they have been victimized by this scam, please direct them to make a report to their police of jurisdiction. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre should also be contacted at 1-888-495-8501 or online.
