Fire Ban In Effect
Due to ongoing very dry conditions, hot temperature and lack of moisture, the Fire Hazard is now Extreme. As a result, open burning is not allowed within the borders of the MD of Smoky River No. 130, Effective Immediately.
NOW PROHIBITED:
All outdoor wood fires, including designated firepits, backyard firepits, burning barrels, and any wood campfires on public or private and,
BBQ charcoal briquettes, fireworks & exploding targets, burning of brush piles, windrows, or other debris.
Allowed With Extreme Caution!
· Portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and BBQs that are CSA or ULcertified and are designated for cooking or heating, Catalytic or infrared style heaters.
· Wood fires in an enclosed facility or device, which has a chimney with a spark arrestor.
· OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES ARE ALLOWED ON CROWN LAND. This can change dependent on fire orders issued by the provincial Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. Remember to check the hot spots on your vehicle and remove debris before and after use.
The FIRE BAN will remain in place until conditions improve. Fire danger levels are reviewed daily. The Fire Ban will be downgraded when conditions improve.
If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 9-1-1 or 310-FIRE
